eDiscovery: Process

Native document processing without conversion to TIFF format results in significant cost savings, faster access to the data, and better insight into documents and embedded metadata.

No conversion costs

The Stratify Legal Discovery™ service processes documents in over 390 file formats without conversion to TIFF format. Native document processing results in significant cost savings, faster access to the data, and better insight into documents and embedded metadata.

Advanced Document Processing

The Stratify Legal Discovery system can cull the data universe based on file metadata, and can then filter the documents using advanced, proprietary Boolean keyword filtering technology.

Stratify’s advanced metadata processing of the document set powers the entire review and generates concept folders, smart issue folders, search and visual email maps.

  • Automatic Concept Organization. The Stratify Legal Discovery service statistically analyzes terms and phrases both within and across documents. Based on this analysis it identifies clusters of conceptually similar documents and organizes these clusters into a Concept Hierarchy based on their interrelationships. Within the concept hierarchy these groups of similar documents are represented as Concept Folders.
Documents and emails are sorted into one or more concept folders based on their meaning.
  • Smart Issue Folder Organization. In parallel with concept organization the Stratify Legal Discovery service processes documents against the stored queries that define Smart Issue folders and sorts documents and emails that satisfy the criteria into the appropriate folders.
  • Search Indexing. The Stratify Legal Discovery service develops a full text index of all documents and emails, as well as indexes for all extracted metadata fields. These indexes power the robust search capabilities of the system.
  • Advanced Email Processing. The Stratify Legal Discovery service takes a unique approach to processing email messages. As with all documents the system extracts and stores key metadata fields such as Sender, Receiver, Subject, Date Sent, etc. In addition, the system builds a complete n-degree map of email relationships between all senders and receivers in the document universe and maintains this information in the eDiscovery database for each matter. This information is used to represent the “Degrees of Separation” between senders, receivers and intermediary correspondents in Stratify’s Email Maps.

Foreign Language Document Processing

The Stratify Legal Discovery service processes documents in most European languages as well as complex languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. For complex languages such as Chinese and Japanese the system supports multiple character sets such as Hiragana and Kitakana in Japanese and Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

Foreign language documents can be translated using machine-based translation tools or manual translation services. Document translations are linked with the native foreign language document and are directly available in the review environment.
