Mountain View, CA — February 9, 2005 — Stratify, Inc., a leader in legal discovery and unstructured data management, today announced it has hired Stephen D. Whetstone as Vice President, Client Development and Strategy, effective immediately. Whetstone, a member of Stratify's Legal Advisory Board since March 2004, is leaving his position as a litigation partner at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP in Boston, Massachusetts, where for 11 years he specialized in securities, patent and intellectual property, and other complex commercial litigation. Prior to joining Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault in 1994, Whetstone was an attorney at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher and Flom.
Whetstone has successfully handled numerous complex litigations and legal investigations that relied on analyzing large volumes of electronic data and evidence. His clients have included Fortune 500 companies; leading international financial institutions; and publicly traded and private-held technology, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing companies. Whetstone has written several articles on best practices of managing electronic data and discovery issues, and is a frequent speaker at public conferences and seminars on the subject.
"It's an exciting time for electronic discovery and I am thrilled to join the Stratify team as it continues to expand its premier discovery solutions for the legal market," said Whetstone. "After 15 years of litigation experience with and against many of the country's finest law firms, lawyers and companies, I am eager to distill and contribute that front-line knowledge into Stratify's products and services so attorneys and their clients can more easily and affordably tackle the most challenging discovery issues."
Whetstone has witnessed first-hand how the explosion of discoverable information in legal proceedings challenges attorneys to move beyond labor-intensive search techniques that needlessly increase costs. The Stratify Legal Discovery™ service automatically narrows and intuitively structures any document universe by relevant subject matter; thereby allowing attorneys to review, tag, and produce documents much more quickly and affordably than traditional discovery tools. The Stratify solution also allows attorneys to analyze complex email message flows — even if generated by multiple users in different locations — so they can find the most critical case information and evidence. Web-based and secure, the Stratify Legal Discovery service enables attorneys to conduct their discovery work anywhere, at anytime.
Stratify, which currently provides Electronic Discovery services to many of the AmLaw 100, is the first electronic discovery solution that creates concept folders to reduce the universe of reviewable documents, enable faster and more accurate review and facilitate early case assessment and the efficient management of complex litigation. Stratify's patented "intelligent" technology has been battle-tested in the US intelligence community and large-scale enterprise deployments.
Founded in September 1999, Stratify is a privately held company that has received funding from Mobius Venture Capital and In-Q-Tel, the venture capital arm of the CIA. Stratify is headquartered in Mountain View, California. For more information about Stratify, please visit www.stratify.com.
