Stratify’s New Release Delivers Advanced Efficiency, Management Flexibility and Cost Savings During Discovery

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — January 25, 2006— Stratify, Inc., a leader in advanced electronic discovery for the legal market, today announced the release of the Stratify Legal Discovery™ 6.0 service with new capabilities that provide attorneys with enhanced performance as well as more control and flexibility in managing the discovery process.

The powerful new customization and management features of the Stratify Legal Discovery 6.0 service will enable attorneys to increase review efficiency, deepen case insight and reduce costs associated with sophisticated discovery matters. This latest release builds on Stratify innovations, which include the ability to automatically organize the document universe into matter-specific concept folders, and provide intuitive, graphical Email Maps for the review and analysis of large, complex email collections using Stratify Visual Email Analytics. Both features, pioneered by Stratify, have had a tremendous impact on how AmLaw 200 and Fortune 500 firms handle the new generation of large discovery matters, which can include massive amounts of email messages as well as electronic and hardcopy documents.

The Stratify Legal Discovery 6.0 service offers an unprecedented arsenal of easy-to-use electronic discovery capabilities, which attorneys can use for complex litigation and governmental investigations. Many of the new features, which are a direct result of client recommendations, extend attorney control over the review environment and provide them with an extraordinary degree of flexibility in organizing documents and messages to expedite review and case assessment.

Feature highlights include:

  • Smart Issue Folders: Now, attorneys and case managers can use specific search criteria of their choice to automatically organize documents and messages into Smart Issue Folders. During data processing the system seamlessly identifies and groups documents based on these specific criteria. This new feature serves as a complement to Stratify’s concept-based organization of the document universe. Smart Issue Folders contain all loaded documents and email messages that satisfy the designated Smart Issue Folder criteria. Additional insight is provided by sorting the documents in a Smart Issue Folder into concept subfolders that the Stratify Legal Discovery 6.0 service automatically identifies for each matter based on an analysis of the content of documents. This enables attorneys and reviewers to easily identify relevant sets of documents within each issue.
  • Personal Work Folders: Attorneys also can create personal Work Folders with similar auto population rules. Documents and messages can also be manually assigned to these Personal Work Folders. Work Folders can be used during review and analysis to prepare for depositions, organize documents for expert review, collect trial exhibits and create witness prep folders. Work Folders deliver documents to attorneys that they would otherwise need to run individual searches to locate.
  • Stratify Visual Email Analytics™: Attorneys can easily conduct sophisticated analysis of large, complex email collections and easily generate visual email maps. These capabilities enable litigators to quickly and visually identify important relationships and relevant message flows, and refine their investigations using concepts, topic threads or date range. Messages and their attachments can be immediately examined in their native format and tagged with a single mouse click.
  • Advanced Security: The Stratify Legal Discovery 6.0 service provides enhanced security that enables administrators to control access to any folder, document, field, tag or annotation in the database. Specific features also can be controlled for individual users and/or groups. Firms in a multi-party litigation can share a review site and easily use these capabilities to provide secure access to different sets of attorneys and reviewers while controlling costs.
  • Group Tags and Exclusion Rules: The Stratify Legal Discovery 6.0 service allows users to create hierarchical tag sets, enabling attorneys or administrators to group sets of related tags for more efficient review. When a document is tagged with a subtag the system will automatically apply the group tag as well. Attorneys and administrators also can designate mutual exclusion rules between tags. If a reviewer uses a tag that is part of a mutual exclusion rule, the mutually exclusive tags will automatically be disabled in the user interface.
  • Extensible and Editable Metadata: The Stratify Legal Discovery 6.0 service automatically extracts and stores metadata for documents and email messages and performs advanced metadata processing necessary to power the review and generate Stratify’s Email Maps. The system’s database can be extended on a matter-by-matter basis with custom fields to accept document-related metadata from third party software or coding projects, or to enable custom coding during the review process. Any of these custom fields can be searched as well as secured for specific users and/or groups.

The Stratify Legal Discovery service is Unicode compatible, and currently supports documents in all Indo-European languages as well as Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. It requires no software installation and features 24/7 technical support. Costs are primarily based on the size of the reviewable data, not raw data.
